Final Thoughts

Today is the last day for any words of wisdom or knowledge on the wiki and blog pages. I am happy and sad about this being the final day. I am happy, because it can become hard to keep up with using the wiki and blog page. I have never done face book or twittering, so this was really a learning experience for me. I know you can keep up with people using all these new and exciting tools, but I rather my friends and family text or call me. I really do not have the time to sit at a computer and constantly read blogs, wikis, face book, or twitters. As for a teaching tool, I think it would be great to show a future class what type of communication devices and other learning tools that may be available for them to use throughout life. I just would not do this daily. I am sad this is over, because it was a good learning experience, and it is good to try something new that may change the way you work or think. This process was challenging at times, but came together in the end. I have learned so much this semester and appreciate every new learning experience that has been available this semester. I have enjoyed blogging and keeping up with all my fellow classmates’ wikis. Enjoy the rest of the semester!!!!!

Lost in Thought

As I think back to how the project started, I think about what we could have done better. There is always room for improvement. Self-instruction activities really explains its self. A person is simply taking on a task by their self and working at their own pace. I was trying to think of other examples that could have been added to the presentation. I believe personal experiences help the students learn and understand the topic better. I had to take a health class at home. I had to read the book and answer questions from a workbook. I would send off my answers to the company. The company would send me back a grade and feedback. The class I did on my own, and I had to have self discipline. That is another self instructed activity that I could have added to the presentation. Isn't it funny what you think about after the presentation is said and done?

Researching project information

I was thinking how much research went into the project. When looking back, there was so many resources to incorporate into the project. We can use all kinds of visual aids and audio affects. I really enjoyed learning all of the tool they have to catch the students attention, such as the vokio. At first, it was not easy to navigate on either page. Over time, it became easier. I have made a few mistakes here and there. Just like the project, the blogging and wiki pages are coming together. With all this new information, we should be able to create a new learning environment for future students.

Moving Ahead

I have just arrived home from work. I am now gathering all my information and trying to figure out where to start on the blog. Irma and I have been blogging together and separately to make sure we are covering everything. Since I had some set backs on my blog, which I discussed in last nights blog to everyone. I am working out the kinks this morning and organizing my blogs right. I am making sure I save every blog when necessary and writing the code in the box before I push post to make a comment. Hopefully, by the time I am done on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, I will have four comment for each person I followed throughout their journey. I have certainly learned many lessons while making a blog and wiki.

Reflecting on the Wiki and blog.

I went to review the previous comments I made on everyones blog, and I realized that my comments were not posted. I felt terrible. I was trying to keep up with several blogs. I thought I had a good grasps on the blogging and wiki, but no comments were posted. I went back to review what I did wrong. I learned when it said post the comment, I thought I was done. I forgot to put the code and just hit post comment. Needless to say, my comments were not posted. There went several days of posting. I guess practice makes perfect. I am just glad I caught it in time before we had to turn it in for a grade. I was just getting confident in blogging. It's okay. I believe I am on the right track now. Hopefully, it's not too late. We will see. I will start today fresh and new.

Presentation Completed

After working several weeks with Irma on our presentation, we can finally breath. One less stressful task to do. I was very excited about how the presentation came together in the end. During the presentation, we had a technology malfunction, but as they say the show must go on. It was only a minor set back. The most important part is we kept teaching our topic, which is one of the many lesson we learned that day.

When you find yourself  in the teaching position, you never know what will happen for the next hour and fifteen minutes. There may be times when you have to improvise. Using the mic and lecturing to a class live and broadcasting to two other classes is very different. This was actually my first time to use all of the equipment, such as the mic and watching the monitors too.  I really enjoyed the opportunity to see how it felt to be in the educator's seat, even if it was for only twenty minutes. You truly get a different prepective and respect for the educator's position. I wish everyone the best on their presentations as well.

Presentation

Irma and I have been diligently working on the presentation. We are gaining more information about self instruction activity. Throughout the process we thought of many topics to present. Previously, we looked at self examinations, such as breast exams. Now, we are viewing CPR training as well. We have been finding new articles and videos to use on the presentation. Currently, I am finding new material to add to the presentation on Tuesday, March 29, 2011.

Project

I am currently working on our self instruction group project. I am gathering topics and ideas to instruct the class on our current topic. We are going to talk about self instruction on self breast examination.
